Reminders in Mountain Lion does not appear to have a default list setting. Or rather, it's default is to the Calendar - On My Mac. I then have to drag the reminder into the iCloud lists, because you can't even set it while editing the reminder. You literally have to drag it. Reminders doesn't have a preferences pane. Does anyone know how to set the default list in Reminders to an iCloud list?

If you just have 1 account, then simply drag the list you want as default on top.
If you have multiple accounts the only way I found is to disable all of them and re-activate the account you want to use as the default one at first and then all the others.
I have multiple accounts - for example on my mac and icloud, how do I disable on my mac so I can move icloud to the top?
I am surprised this has not been updated by apple, right now my reminders default to my accounting programs default list which is a pain when i create a simple reminder

Delete the calendar/reminder list in the native calendar app on your Mac and then make sure you've dragged the list you want to be your default list to the top of the list of lists. This would not be possible if you actually have a calendar on your native Calendar app that you actually use, though, as it appears to me that there can be no calendars "On My Mac" in order for you to use an iCloud list as a "default" list in Reminders. This took care of it for me.
