I'm trying to save—save!—a Pages document to my local drive, and I'm getting this error message:

The file “Untitled.pages-tef” couldn’t be opened.

Strangely, it is possible to save my document to iCloud, but not directly to my local drive.

Any advice?

Just an FYI - Another work around if you need to save the document before quitting is to click on the name of the document at the top of the page and select rename, and then type whatever you want and use the regular save function as opposed to "Save As..."

It's a little annoying that a year later and this problem persists. I hope you get on this Apple. It seems the cloud is still quite buggy. I have had years of issues with iMatch not working correctly, ever since it came out, though a recent work around fixed my issue finally.

About to try your fix now Kreklo, if I don't repost then it worked. Thank you, ;-)

I've had the same problem when I bought a new MacBook Pro. So many things didn't work from iCloud, including all my Numbers files that were somehow saved as .tef extensions, Mail, iChat, etc. When I checked the AppStore I saw my previously purchased Mountain Lion App waiting to be reinstalled on my new Mac. After reinstalling, everything came back just fine.
