Mail & Notification Center not working

See I figure out something, I was screwing around with it till I found a way, not sure if that's the right way, or why. But on my address book , my CARD (where you name is etc) i just deleted my personal email address, closed the address book and the mail app, turned on mail and sent myself a message to see. Somehow worked. I have been getting notifications since then. I then added back my e-mail address to my address book. So far so good.

Have a friend send you an email for testing, it may still recognize your name or the address as being you even if you are using an other account.

I have completely uninstalled Growl. It was only producing intermittent alerts, and I couldn't get Growl preferences to open. Notifications by themselves now work fine, although I cannot get the Notifications System Preferences pane to open (as well as other preference panes).

I did exactly what you said, and... all my notifications apeared. I was amazed!!! But hten I sent myself an e-mail from my iphone and...I still don't get any new notifications, no banners, and no listing in the center. This is very strange inded

Thanks andregotz for your suggestion. I removed my personal email adress from Adressbook and all new mail now appears in NC. 🙂 That is to say, when the mail app IS running. It would be nice to receive a notification in NC for new mail when the mail app is NOT running! Calendar works that way too. I receive notifications in NC for every new calendar item even when the calendar app is not running.

I tried that as well. Still no mail showing up. Calendar events are all I get in the NC. I've redone the setting a zillion times to no avail. Removing my email from contacts didn't fix mine.
