Q: Facetime and i message have stopped working on my ipod4,1.  The wi fi signal show as blue on messages and facetime but is ok on email, itunes, safari and fb.  I cant receive or send messages, but can email? I live in Portugal and this ipod was a present.

My ipod4.1 is unable to send or receive messages or to use facetime.  All other internet connections are ok, safari, mail etc.  The wi fi signal shows as blue when using the message or facetime app. I've spent 5 hours now restoring, updating etc through i tunes. Any ideas?

What happens when you try to FT or Message? Error message?

Maybe here:

iOS 5: iMessage not working – how to fix - Apple Toolbox

Try go to Settings>wifi>connected network and change the DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8
