Mountain Lion - random kernel panic

The first place that I would look is the RAM.

Did you install some third party RAM ?

Is YES!

Remove the third party RAM and use only the one that came with the Mac.

Then try to boot and install your OS.

If it work, after that, try to re-install de third party RAM and see what happend.

I saw that problem a long time ago. The OS some time on installation don't like things that a not from Apple or certifiy by Apple.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. You may have to leave it there for several days.

Print the first page of the panic report and bring it with you.

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

I have exactly the same problem, my MAC restarted at least a zillion times since I installed. Its so annoying and especially when I am using this MAC for my work. Its really screwing me up like crazy!! I never repented so much in my life for buying a software from Apple.

Hmm... I have being experiencing the exactly same issues re: kernal panics in com.apple.NVDAResman.

Happens more often than not when waking up from sleep (or when opening the clamshell) but can happen randomly at any time as well. Getting about 5 - 6 reboots a day - thus driving me nuts.

I find it interesting that like Number 6 I have the higher res (HD) screen, and not the standard screen. Perhaps this is isolated to MacBook Pro 15" (mid-2010) with the HD screen option (non-retina but higher res than standard)?

If so, then the logic board replacement may not solve the problem. 😟

Just checked the contents of the /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports- have had 25 kernel panics (all relating to com.appl.NVDAResman) in the past 5 days alone.

Never had this problem before Mountain Lion.

I too am getting the same problem. It started the day I installed Mountain Lion. I strongly suspected a hard drive error, but my local Apple shop (not an apple store, but an authorized repair shop) insisted the drive is fine. Disk Warrior and SMART agree with the shop. However, these aborts are clearly affecting my data. I keep having to reset the Secondary Click, and sometimes the Mission Control settings after one of these panics. After one of them, the drive would not boot and I had to reinstall and restore from Time Machine.

Like some of the other reports I've seen, waking from sleep is the majority case, but I've seen it just panic right after I finished working on it too (just not nearly as much). Oddly, it has never panicked while I am working on it.

I have a late 2009 iMac 27".
