Mad Dog MegaStor™ External DVD Drive (MD-16X3DVD9-8XE)

Hi, later in the day, my brother is going to buy the Mad Dog MegaStor External DVD burner 9 Model #: MD-163DVD9-8XE for his iBook G4. It has both USB2.0 & Firewire connectivity and claims to have support for the Mac; my brother plans on using firewire instead.

Does anyone have any experience with this Mad Dog external drive or other Mad Dog external drives?

And does anyone know if this Mad Dog drive can burn CDs and DVD-Rs from the Finder in Mac OSX TIger 10.4.5? Because I can burn both DVD-R and CDs from the Sony DRU-820A internal DVD Burner (which is listed as unsupported but allows Burning) on PowerMac MDD G4.

I tried searching in the xlr8yourmac website's drive database for the Mad Dog external dvd burner but couldn't find anything.

Any input or feedback would be appreciated.

My brother's iBook G4 specs:
1.07 Ghz G4, 512 MB Ram, 40GB HD, Mac OSX10.4.5 Tiger.
