macbook battery swelling

Richard, this has come up a number of times on here...good that you removed the battery, don't want any other damage to your system. Apple has not sadi anything about recall or replacement beyond purchase of a new battery. That is probably your best option at this point and then contact Customer Support and give feedback on the issue: http://www.apple.com/feedback so you at least make your voice.heard.

There’s one problem with running your MacBook with the battery removed. MacBooks and MacBook Pros automatically reduce the processor speed by about half when the battery is removed.

If you have a MacBook with the removable battery you can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay UK. Every MacBook from 2006 through Mid 2009 except the Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 and 2010 White Unibodies use the same battery.

I have a late 2007 macbook white and every year for the past 4 years I have had this problem and , every May thats within 14 month so of purchasing a new battery , I have had swelling problems and I even switch off my mac every night. Cant figure that out and have been paying except last time when it was replaced within 8 months owing to the same problem. Why cant Apple do something about it? Can anyone suggest is it a model problem or all mac books undergo the same thing?

My swelling battery caused my touchpad to do weird things... I replaced the whole keyboard/touchpad... but now I see that it was the swelling battery making the click bar "stick" on. It is happening again with the new keyboard/touch pad...

I hate to toss a battery that is good otherwise the fact that it expands when hot... otherwise an engineering defect.

Apple likes to design things so small smooth and elegent that they exceed reasonable engineering issues... and then after the fan-fare it over and the machines have some miles on them, they ignor these issues because most of the Apple Cool-Aid drinking crowd has upgraded. Unfortunately us power-users keep things longer. On the other hand my Dell that I bought 7 years ago, gets hot... but cools off with large fans, and is silly rock solid and UGLY... my son has dropped it etc etc and somehow other than Window Virus issues it is a solid machine... but it is UGLY and the OS is UGLY.

HEY APPLE WHY DID YOU GET RID OF FIRE-WIRE. My $15,000 Leaf Digital camera that is not worn out needs fir-wire to function?
