ipad novice looking for help!

Hello, I am a student currently studying Psychology. As I am visually impaired I receive many of my book in a pdf format which allows me to read them in a larger font than it would be in a book format, alternatively I can use a screen reader that reads the printed matter to me. As my computer is a table top computer I thought I could be more mobile (& comfortable) if an ipad could perform the same functions I currently use on my table top.

Does the ipad have Adobe Acrobat?
If not is it straight forward to download?
Does the ipad have a screen reader?

I would be very appreciative if someone could help me with this information.

Adobe Acrobat is a free download in the app store. Just search adobe.

Screen reader, I am not sure on that one. I dont want to guess or give you a suggestion with something I havent used.

There are some Voice over Accessiblity features built into iOS (and I understand some enhancements coming in iOS 6. You can find some details here:

In addition, there are some third party apps available as well, but like others I have no first hand experience with them.
