I can no longer open the System Preferences on my iMac. It says I cannot open it because it is "either incomplete or damaged". Not sure how it happened but I will bet that one of my kids had something to do with it. Thank you in advance for your help.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
Copy and paste this in Finder - Go - Go to Folder:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Then restart the computer in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches, then restart normally and test.
Please post back results.

I copied and pasted the link from above and it did not work. It said the following: The folder "com.apple.systempreferences.plist" can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents. Any other recommendations? Thanks!
