Administrator access required to use a new printer?

Hello.

Does connecting a new printer connection require administrator access in Mac OS X (e.g., 10.5.8)? I gave a client an non-administrator account so he cannot change settings and stuff for security reasons.

Thank you in advance. 🙂

Any modification of system files requires admin access. And, you have specifically prohibited the user from chaning any settings such as changing a printer.

They can use a printer, but they cannot make changes to Print & Scan preferences nor install a new printer. That would require the admin user. Unless, of course, you've banned them from even using a printer. 🙂

Yeah, but I don't want to ban the user from everything. Hmm, I wonder if it is possible to allow printers only.
