LsOpenURLsWithRole() errors since upgrading from 10.7 to 10.8

Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion some third party apps fail to launch, apps which are brand new and have been updated to run with 10.8.

No error is displayed when trying to launch these apps via Finder or the dock. The usual icon animation for opening an app displays, but nothing happens. Activity Monitor never shows a process for the apps.

Opening them via the Terminal yields the following error:

Optimus:Downloads jay$ open Mountain\ Tweaks.app/

LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Users/jay/Downloads/Mountain Tweaks.app.

This is when trying to run the latest version of Mountain Tweaks from http://tweaksapp.com/app/mountain-tweaks/

I receive the same error message exactly when trying to open the latest version of Candy Bar

These are the only apps I have noticed so far that exhibit this behavior, but if I run across any others I will update this post.

Not a huge deal to me since these apps are not really necessary, I'm just trying to test them out.

I fixed this issue using the following command:

xattr -d -r com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Mountain\ Tweaks.app/

This also worked to fix the same issue for other apps like Fluid.
