My charger has been intermittent since updating to Mountain Lion. Is it broken or is the update to blame?

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion this past Sunday, my charger has been intermittent. It's like someone turns a switch every now and then and the charger just stops charging. Then it comes back on its own after a few seconds or after I jiggle the charger. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the connector pins or anything. Is my charger or the laptop itself broken or could this be caused by the upgrade to Mountain Lion?

Reset SMC. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

Choose the method for:

"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".

Resetting the SMC did not help. But I have now noticed that if I have the laptop on a level surface like a table, the charging is constant but when I lift it up it stops. Then once I set it on my lap, it starts again but when I move it stops. So maybe that's the problem...

Yea so problem solved. The cord of my charger is broken (as in the MagSafe head came off the cord). It's demise just happened to coincide with upgrading to Mountain Lion.
