is ios 4 ever going to be available for itouch 1st gen?

I just bought an iTouch from my friend, neither of us knew that it was 1st Gen and now most apps are unavailable to me, they are already close to ios 6, and they are just leaving me with ios 3, if anyone knows if they are converting ios 4 to the iTouch 1st Gen or are planning to, please respond.
