Old iPod with songs on it from a deleted itunes library on an outdated pc. I want to transfer the songs from the iPod to my new computer and nothing is working...any suggestions? I really don't want to lose all these songs!!

You can't do that using iTunes, except for songs you purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download purchased songs using the iTunes Store Purchased screen). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that will allow you do transfer song files from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer, you can add them to your iTunes library by dragging the files (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window.
Once I tried to trasfer songs from my laptop to my personal computer. I dragged the song from the list to desktop. 🙂
