My Macbook display changes color when I open applications. It looks like there is a light blue layer over the screen, thus changing the color of my display. This layer goes away when i quit the applications.

I had that problem, too, and it's been documented both here and on the Adobe forums. What happens is that when you have dynamic switching on, when an application that uses your discrete GPU kicks in, the screen will change color. My problem lasted for a couple of weeks then just vanished.

What you need to do is download Cody Krieger's gfxCardStatus and turn off dynamic switching and leave your GPU set to discrete only. That's the only fix that I know of at this time. I don't know why it happens or why mine stopped.

Do, please. This is an issue with Mountain Lion, not your MBP. This is the only work-around that I know of at present. And, as I said, my issue vanished. But it was very annoying - blue tints whenever my Intel GPU kicked in. Why did my machine suddenly work correctly? I have no idea. But Cody's app works. If you find that it solves your problem, please make a donation - he's a poor student working his way through RIT.

i set to discrete, blue screen appear, and i cant get rid of it. 😟

i created a new profile and there isn't the issue, then i see in this profile there isn't the ColorSync folder.

so i back to my original profile and i remove the ~/Library/ColorSync folder, restart and i fixed.

Ok for anyone interested, if you log out and back in the problem goes away, this is happening with MBP with SSD installed on them.

I Know :) This is an ongoing problem for a lot of users, even though it's not really a bad problem it gets annoying, I work in photography and if I forget to log out-in i get that **** blue color cast.

Your not alone. I'm -or to be precise: my MacBook Pro- suffering the same issue. Config: a brand new MacBook Pro 2.3 Ghz i7 with a Momentus XT 750 GB HDD/SSD and 16 GB RAM, Mountain Lion.

Very annoying. After a restart it goes away for a while, but when I start using Photoshop or Illustrator is pops up again. Installed gfxCardStatus but that isn't a real cure because one simply cuts off the NVIDEA Geoforce GT 550 M.

Apple should fix this real soon.

My problem just 'went away' - and I can't say why. The problem doesn't seem to persist for too long - maybe two weeks, at most?

Maybe it will be addressed in a 10.8.3 update. It's not widespread - just a couple of dozen people have had the problem from what I've read here and on the Adobe forums. It's just a pain while it lasts.

For the record: I'm experiencing the same issue. Every time the GT 650 GM kicks in the screen discolors. gfxCardStatus isn't a solution because the GT 650 GM is automatically used when using Illustrator, Photohop or iPhoto for example. gfxCardStatus can't overrule that. The situation: I have a brand new $1700 MacBook Pro which is useless for working in Photoshop which makes it useless for me. Apple should provide a fix real soon because this is unacceptable.

If it's brand new, take it back to Apple and exchange it. My problem just vaporized one day - gfxCardStatus doesn't 'fix' the problem - it just verifies it and shows you which apps are dependent on the discrete GPU.

As I said, maybe it will be something that will be addressed in 10.8.3 - I don't know.

same problem here, using radeon color profile is blue!! with intel hd3000 there's no problems!! Apple fix it!!!

hi guys, is there some news about this issue? I've the same problem and thanks to gfxCardStatus I understood that the problem is connected to the switching between graphic cards. If I force the use of one of them the color doesn't change but when I set the automatic mode, issue appears. Yes, i can fix removing autoswitching but hope that from apple will arrive a fix for this problem
