Q: Can i still purchase Lion Server 10.7?

If you had previously purchased it, you can re-download it. But it is no longer available for purchase in the App Store.

I have the same wish as rogerattack.

My MacPro1.1 doesn't do Mountain Lion. So I'd like to turn in into a server.

Now it is obvious that OS X Server 10.7 is not availible in the app-store. That's why we came here I suppose.

So is there realy no way to get a previous version of systemsoftware from apple? That's kinda weird and not very user friendly on apples part...

Can anybody offer some insight or help?

Wow.  I am suprised as well, seeing as how this would be a revenue stream for Apple.   I am sure everyone that is in the position of not being able to upgrade a mac to Mountain Lion would consider it if it were available.  Does Apple still support Lion server?  Why not make it available to the public so we can get more use out of our older macs?

I am starting to archive software from Apple onto thumb drives.

I do a clean install from the latest and version of an OS then mirror it onto the thumb drive.

I am still waiting to 10.7.5 to ship so I can file it away into the archives!

I want to do the same thing.. First for no real reason Apple has blocked being able to install Mountain Lion on my Mac Pro and now I cant install Lion Server .. ***.

Can anyone confirm that this will work? Also if it does, do you then own the image or does it have a time stamped certificate that expires at years end?

Just spoke to Enterprise support and they directed me to telephone sales (spoke to an 'Expert'). There is a phsyical copy of 10.7 server for sale as an add on to 10.7 Lion. It costs $20+tax and they will ship it to you.

Just ordered mine. And FWIW Mountain Lion server started the trend of $20 server add-ons, I believe the add on for Lion was originally $70-$80 through the app store. I for one am happy to keep the $50+ in my pocket and get access to server from my Mac Pro 1,1. Just kind of a pain in the butt to figure out how to get it.

I just did the same thing. I've gotten confirmation of order via email. I'll post back once I have the prodct.

So I have since received the product. The one ambiguous part which the expert misled me on was actually getting the server app on physical media.

In reality it is just an app store redemption code that is sent via email once your order gets processed. This then links you to download the file's download page in the Mac app store.

Hope this helps to provide some clarity, since the 'expert' I ordered from on the phone told me I would be receiving a disk via snail mail..

So I finally realised it is very simple! You just call Apple (I pressed the button for technical support, from some tips I read about the sales department not having a clue), and you just ask them to buy Lion (or server). They will accept your credit card, and send a download code. It costed around $20. Good luck to you all!

This also worked for me. I have a Lion server up and running for a few months now. Easy transaction, just have to phone Apple.
