How do I stop the camera from turning on in my pocket?

I keep my iPhone in my jeans pocket and ever since they added the feature that allows you to swipe to activate the camera from the lock screen, the camera will turn on by itself from time to time. When my phone starts to feel warm, I know it's done it again and I have to remove it and lock it again. At that point I normally put the phone on a colder surface (like my desk top) to cool it down a bit before putting it back in my pocket.

I have not seen any way to either disable the camera swipe or make it less sensitive.

Anyone have the same problem or have a solution for this?

Thanks,

Tyrel

Thanks for the link, I will certainly do that. I just wonder why this is happening. I always face the touch screen to the front, so it's not like my leg is possibly touching the screen through the pocket and as I walk, moving as if to drag the camera app open.

I guess another feedback item would be to get the camera to stop trying so hard if it's in a zero light situation. Seems that if you turn on the camera and keep it covered, the phone will heat up very quickly.

I could turn off the camera application, but for some reason I still use the default app rather than something like Camera+. Weird. :-)

No, I have tried and could not duplicate it at all. I did not consider that flexing the phone might have some affect, but I did try that also. My assumption has to be that it must be hitting the top button to activate the screen, then somehow gets some tactile feedback to the screen. Although, the only thing touching the screen is the front part of my pocket, so that seems unlikely. If you wipe the phone clean with a thin cloth, it does not normally pick up your finger movements, so does not take much to issolate the screen from touch.

How does the touch screen work? Is it possible that static electicity migh have a part to play in this?

I mean, it's either just randomly turning on, which one whould expect to see that happen sometimes when the phone is just sitting on the desk for instance, or there's some input to the phone when it's in my pocket causing this. I have considered getting a case, but unlike with the iPhone 4 with the antena problem, this phone looks good as is, why hide it in a case?

I am wondering if there is any way to log the actions other than writing an app. So if it happens again, I can look at some system messages to say how the phone app was started up.

Yea, I guess if I am the only one having this problem, it has to be something specific to me. I did create this phone as new when I got it, but that was last year when it came out. It was working well until the iOS 5 update with the camera on the lock screen came out. Never did it before that. That's why I thought it might have something to do with the change to make it easier to open the camera.
