upside-down, inverted photos or album cover art

Hello, I download 3 songs a week from my favorite free music site. These are free songs, I'm not stealing them. After I open the song and play it, I read the review that goes with it, go to the record label site or the artists home page and I drag and drop one photo of the band or the album cover. Lately the image that I drag and drop has become unstable, sometimes its upside down and "backwards" sometimes its rightside up but the text is inside out, kind of like a slide that gets mounted backwards and upside down in a slide projector.
Here's my question: Have others experienced this? Is this one of Apple's "upgrades", some kind of antipiracy measure? Is there a workaround for this? How do I access the photo attachments of my itunes music to edit them? I'd like to delete the messed up ones but I don't know how.
Thanks for your time and have a great weekend,
from Bill (masi61).

Until now, I've never heard of this phenomenon.
So, you download a picture and iTunes mirrors it or puts it upside down?
Odd.

There are several ways to extract artwork and edit it.

The simplest way is to drag the picture from the artwork pane to the desktop, control-click the resulting clipping and open it with an editor of your choice.

To extract multiple pictures at once, use Save Album Art to Album Folder
Then open the pictures in an editor (e.g. GraphicConverter), edit them and save them.

To replace the picture of a track, don't use the artwork pane. This will add the picture, but not replace the old one.
Select the track and Get Info (command-I). Select the artwork tab and delete the old picture (click on it and click the 'Delete' button).
Then drop the edited one on the now empty space, or click 'Add...' and navigate to the edited picture.

Hope this helps.
