Q: iphoto damaged or incomplete

I purchased a MBP in late 2011 from the Apple Store. All software was loaded and no discs were included with purchase. It did not include iDVD so I installeled iLife to get it but now when I try to open iPhoto I get a message "You can't open the application "iPhoto" because it may be damaged or incomplete. All other iLife apps are fine so I'm assuming the iPhoto file on the iLife disc is corrupt.

Since I purchased the computer with iPhoto already on it I should be able to restore it. How do I do that wihout a disc? What is the method for restoring pre-installed software where a back up disc was not included with purchase?

Thanks

Greg

If indeed the code is damaged, only recourse is to download again. You will need use the App Store application, sign in with the same AppleID you used to purchase the product, and go to the Purchases tab. It will appear there and you can re-download it.

The other common issue is when iPhoto's library gets damaged. Here's the technote on how to deal with it: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2638

    Hi there.

I have the same error after updating to 10.9 Mavericks. It worked fine before the update. HT2638 doesn't work as when I hold down Command + Option nothing happens. Is there any information on this?
