help, I put in a new password last night and wrote what it was for and now today they say it is wrong, I have run out of names since this is the 10th time this has happened

I have had to change my password, I can't even remember how many times now and have run out of ideas. I write it down and then the next time I have to update my apps or something it is wrong. What is the difference in my apple id and my updating etc.

I assume you're talking about your Apple ID used for purchasing from the app store and the iTunes store (set in Settings>Store on your iPad). You use this ID for both updating apps, as well as purchasing new content. You may want to contact iTunes store support and tell them what's going on and see if they can help: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
