i have mbp 2010 - when upgraded to lion it was giving my black screen and freezes - now upgraded to mountain lion and its even crashing more often (black screen) - as soon as it is using nvidia graphics card it crashes, cant do presentations - terrible

Hi

I am in Suadi Arabia and my MBP 2010 having problem with black screen on Mac OS Lion as well as on Mountain Lion. Apple is replacing the logic board and there is not authorized service center in Saudi Arabia (closest is UAE or Pakistan). It is very depressing as I cannot do any presentations (projector requires nvidia and doesnt support intel graphics card) ...

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

As I feared - local service provider (in Saudi Arabia) was absolutely incompetent to find the problem and not to mention lacked basic support manners of explaining customers the whole process, its like they are doing you a favor. Anyway, they declared my machine to be in perfect condition and according to them it does not have any problem whatsoever and they suggested to "reinstall the Lion or Mountain and than hope and see".

Frankly I cannot believe the bad service I am provided.

by the way for illustrator you can force the machine to use internal graphics card - try using gfxcardstatus and in there specify to use the integrated graphics card all the time - i have used illustrator like that and it works - its not the solution but will keep u going

unfortunately certain things require nvidia (more powerful graphics card) e.g. external display, projectors.

Hello, after some online research I thought my macbook was covered by the TS4088. I had diagnostics run on it at a local apple repair shop, but they told me it did not qualify. After my mac black screened a few more times I read the crash report, it was having something called kernel panic attacks which i learned about in this article.

I printed out my crash reports, highlighed the important parts and showed them to a gunius at an apple store an made the screen crash a few times, he agreed it needed a new logic board... $310 to be shipped off and replaced, or $800 in store repair.

I am Disappointed mine didnt qualify for recall, same model and everything. Hope this helped, good luck.
