Clean install Mac Snow Leopard from CPU drop in DVD

I have a Macbook that originally came installed with Leopard. Inside the packaging was the Leopard OS DVD (Mac OS X Disc 1) and an applications DVD (Mac OS X Disc 2).

I want to clean reinstall onto a new hard drive. Can I install from my Snow Leopard drop in DVD and then install the Applications from my original Applications DVD or do I have to install Leopard first, then the applications and then upgrade to Snow Leopard??

Any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to install Snow Leopard and then run just the installer for the applications. That's always worked for me.

If the SL is a CPU drop-in disc, you will need to install Leopard first.

You can only install from scratch with the SL retail disc (white with pretty white moggy on)

Reports back when the drop-in disk was first available indicated that a previous installation of Mac OS X wasn't necessary. You can just boot from the DVD (restarting the system and holding down the "c" key) and install just as with the retail disk. I never had a copy of the drop-in disk to confirm, though. WiseQT can just give it a try and see.
