Mar 18, 2013 10:13 AM in response to Bogie955by JesalAM,Bogie995- that's the best solution ever I have read for this issue... That said I doubt iOS will put that control back in user hands... That would be like going back on a decision for them and admitting it was a wrong move. Not happening...

Mar 18, 2013 11:15 AM in response to scrmngfistby scifoso,Here's a permanent fix (got this from another thread).
You can log out and then cancel three times when you start a game. This will allow you to disable game center. Unfortunately, it's a temporary disable. If you log into the App Store, it will automatically log you into game center, so you'll be back to logging out of game center and cancelling three times out of a game. The endless loop will continue.
The fix to the endless loop is this. Log out of game center. Start game center. Instead of logging in, create a new Apple ID (bottom of game center logon screen). Doesn't matter what you create as this is bogus. You are now logged into game center with a different ID than you use for other features such as the App Store. Log out of game center. Start a game, press cancel, and exit the game. Do this three times, and game center will prompt you if you want to disable it. Select yes.
For then on, you'll never be prompted for game center logon, or get the game center notifications. If you download a new app from the App Store, it will use your original Apple ID, which is the behaviour you want.
Good solution. Definitely works, and if Apple is going to be jerks about this, adding a bogus Apple ID is trivial.

Mar 18, 2013 12:43 PM in response to scrmngfistby Bogie955,Well, I've never logged into Game Center before, but if it might work, then its worth a try. I see GameCenter is remembering my Just4GamCen Apple ID from the first/last login, so we'll see if it leaves me alone after I pick up my next App at the Store.

Mar 18, 2013 2:39 PM in response to scrmngfistby Bogie955,Well, scrmngfist, seems that might just have resolved the problem. We'll see on reboot and iOS update.
Game Center remembers your last login if different from your desirable Apple ID, and does not bug you
on your device associated with your desirable Apple ID. Key thing is remembering the password for your
bogus ID. Such a resolution just means 2 or more Apple IDs for each person. Which, if you create it truly
bogus such as I did as Jonny Appleseed, Apple will never know if their users are coming or going

Mar 22, 2013 10:23 AM in response to scrmngfistby Mastick,How to disable game Center. Go to the Game Center app and sign out. Then go to bejeweled and start the game. Game Center will pop up and ask you to sign in. Press the CANCEL button in the upper left corner. A window will appear asking you if you want to disable game center. Yes you do. This has kept game center off for quite a while for me.

Apr 29, 2013 12:52 PM in response to scrmngfistby M from the D,I wish Apple would allow us to get rid of or at least actually turn off a function we don't want. I have had multiple games (and the personal records I was working setting) messed up by Game Center. Never wanted it, don't want it, am now playing fewer and fewer games on my phone. By not letting me truly disable this, I am growing less and less fond of the iPhone. I am probably on my last one.

Apr 29, 2013 1:19 PM in response to M from the Dby iinami,I agree we should have the ability to get rid of gamecenter, but how is it negatively affecting you? i mean i play games and don't really notice it, it hasn't had any effect on my game playing.

Jul 2, 2013 5:26 PM in response to iinamiby whalen on macs,When I am playing pacman game center frequently takes a moment to push it's notification. Frequently when it does this blocks the top 5% of the game board. sometimes my pacman is up there and I can't see what is happening and gets chomped by a ghost.
Being that I frequently play when on the subway I sign in and out of the game often resulting in the game center notification being pushed each time and affecting my game play.
Apple censors explitaves so I can't really say how I feel here.
It's bad programming.
I hate game center and I want it out of my life.

Jul 2, 2013 6:06 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby whalen on macs,Thanks L,
But that didn't work.
Even after a reboot and ensuring that both the iPhone and game in question are up to date, any other ideas?
