Okay, so in the WiFi menu, it is showing your home network and that network has been selected (checked), when you view the network details using the right arrow, does it show a valid IP address? An IP address of 169.254.xxx.xxx is a self assigned IP address and is not valid.

If it has a valid addresss, try turing airplane mode on, and then enabling WiFi, does it connect?

I'm having similar problems. I've read all the problem solving links in this thread but all to no avail. My iPhone shows my neighbours' wifi but not mine. My new Blackberry handset immediately found my wi-fi and connected... took less than 20 seconds to do so. My daughter's Samsung Galaxy SIII connected without a problem. My iMac and MacBook Pro connect without a problem. My friend's mobiles (all various makes and models... Nokias, Sonys, Samsungs, HTCs etc) all connect without a problem. The ONLY phone that won't connect is my iPhone 3G S

When I've tried to do it manually (Settings>WiFi>Choose a Network>Other) it says the network doesn't exist. Well if it didn't exist how come so many other devices have no problem finding it?

My router, by the way, is 2012 technology with up to date firmware while the iPhone is, obviously, older, so therefore there should be no problem regarding the router being "too old" technology to know of the existence of the iPhone 3G S

Funny thing is that my daughter's previous iPhone 4 (which she only kept for a few days before swapping to the Galaxy) also couldn't find the home wi-fi... the reason why she didn't keep it, in fact

Anyone have any ideas how I can get this phone to connect?

So took my phone in to apple store to ask about what could be wrong with it since it still is not connecting to wifi. They told me since it is no longer under apple care that I would have to pay $150 to get it looked at because it sounds like it is a hardware issue. Well I love apple products and everything we use is apple but I'm not going to pay that kind of money on a phone that is so old. I think companies should stand by there products more, something like what I'm experiencing should be covered on the phone. The phone wasn't always like this. I didn't buy it like this. Sorry apple you should be fixing this problem.
