I have an ipod touch. I believe it's a first generation. There's really nothing wrong with it, just a few scratches. I hardly ever use it anymore since I have an iPhone. Is there any way I could make a profit from it?

It's clearly worth something, and if it's working correctly you certainly could sell it. Even if it wasn't working some people buy for parts, though obviously they don't pay much. You can look on eBay for the sale prices for iPods of your same vintage and capacity and get an idea of what you might ask for it. You can confirm what model you have here:
