The Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Disk_Image) on Apple Disk Image didn't have anything and a Google search and search here didn't return much either.
It's probably not that important, but just curious as to what it stands for.
Years later, I feel curious about that name, too. I used TechTool Pro to optimize my files _&_ at fully 6.17 GB, InstallESD.dmg was there. nevets88, did you _ever_ get the correct answer?
