iPhoto Recovered Photos

I noticed I have like 43GB worth of photos in this folder. When I first put my photos on my MacBook, it seemed like the upload from the external hard drive kept crapping out on me. Consequently, I attempted the upload about 6 times. In the end, I ended up with like 6 of each photo. I've been trying to delete from iPhoto (delete a few, then empty iPhoto trash).

I honestly don't have the patience to cross-reference photos from the iPhoto Recovered Photos folder. Is it a good idea to try to upload them to iphoto or can I just delete them? Is there a good chance they are duplicates already?

Second and related: Is it the exact same to delete inside iphoto or is it better to trudge through the images file folder and delete that way? (to get more disk space back)?

Let me know if you need clarification!

Thanks
