How do I use an itunes gift card for in-app purchases?

You should be able to just buy them as normal. Are you trying to purchase and having problems? If so, provide details - the app, whether you've had any problems buy apps themselves, and exactly what goes wrong including error messages if any - and perhaps someone can offer suggestions.

So I input my redeem code in iTunes and it registered my $25 credit. So if I do an in-app purchase for $50, it will take the $25 credit and then charge my credit card on file the other $25 for the total $50 purchase? Is that how it works?
Yes. Credits are used before the CC is charged.
I entered the code and applied to my apple account, so I assume I already have the credit. When I tried to make an in-app purchase, it asked me for my password again.
How do I know if the in-app purchase is deducting from the redeem credits or from my credit cards.
Also, is it possible to check the remaining balance of the iTunes gift card? This is the 1st time I deal with apple gift card... Quite confusing...

Purchases are always deducted from the credits first. Look at the menu bar at the top for remaining credit. My credit is $23.59.
I just added a $15 gift card and made a $20 in game purchase and it didn't use my credit. How can I get a refund?
