Message notifications
When someone sends you a new message, you receive a notification even when Messages is not running.
Has anybody tested this?
Never mind.
Had to set
Messages -> Preferences -> General -> When I quit Messages, set my status to offline. Uncheck that preference, and you'll always be online unless you manually sign off. |
No, the app doesn't have to be running. I get notifications of incoming Messages all the time when the app isn't running. However, for chatting, the chat accounts do need to be online.
I have that option checked and I get notifications of incoming Messages all the time.
