ARD on Mountain Lion doesn't connect with Xserve 10.5.8

I was running the Apple Remote Desktop Admin on my Macbook Pro with 10.7.4 and able to connect to all servers on the different networks. After upgrading the Macbook to Mountion Lion, I had to upgrade ARD to 3.6. Now it appears that the ARD Admin will not connect to the servers, unless they have been upgraded to ARD 3.6. On one of the networks I have an XServe G5 running 10.5.8. This OS cannot run ARD 3.6, so I will no longer be able to connect to this server with an Admin computer running Mountain Lion. Any ideas?
