Cannot connect to iTunes store on PC, unable to update iPad.

I've become increasingly frustrated with iTunes. First I couldn't connect to the iPad server, which by the way I still can't. I've read multiple threads in here. I've changed DNS settings, turned off firewalls...all with no results! I can't connect to the iTunes store. I cannot connect to the iPad server which I have the suspicion that those two things are connected. ALL I want to do is update my iPad! Please any assistance would be most welcome I have hit a wall on this one.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".

Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
