Q: "improper installation"

When I open Itunes, I get the message that it was not properly installed and that if I wish to burn or import cd's I must reinstall it.  After which it promptly opens.  I have deleted and reinstalled several times.  I took care of "bonjour".  I even installed a new burner.  what gives?

iPod classic, Windows 7

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:

    ... and click "Next".

When you get through to the final screen:

... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

many thanks. This looks to be the culprit:

    CD Driver Not Available

With that one, I'd start with solution 3 from the following document:

iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install

Thank you so much.  For the first time in months, Itunes opened without a message box, and is ripping a disk now.
