Q: Can someone tell me what exactly is "Spotlight Search"?

Single click the home button (or slide current screen repeatedly to the right until...) slowly several times until ... you get to the search widow.

Searching..  Use it to search for apps whose icons can't be found, and for data within data files, like contacts.
