I lost my login pass and i do not have the cd to reset it, what should i do?

If it is brand new, then it must have come with Lion, Mac OS X 10.7, as the operating system. In that case, startup in recovery mode by restarting and holding the Command and R keys. That is the same as using an install disk. After selecing the language, click Utilities on the menu bar, and Reset Password. You then will be able to select the user account and set a new password.

You apparently don't understand that OS X since last year Lion 10.7 does not come with DVDs.

Summary

If you've purchased OS X Lion or Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store, you're allowed to install it on all of your personal authorized Macs.

To install OS X Lion or Mountain Lion on another Mac, open the Mac App Store, sign in to your account, and re-download the OS by selecting it in the Purchases list. Follow these steps:

  1. Download Lion or Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store on one of your personal authorized Macs. The download is approximately 4 GB in size.
  2. Install the OS.
  3. Log in to another computer that you wish to install it on.
  4. Open the Mac App Store. Enter your Apple ID and password that was used to download either Lion or Mountain Lion on the first computer.
  5. Click the Purchased icon, then click the download link for the appropriate OS.
  6. Run the Installer once it has finished downloading to the new Mac.

Resetting a user's password in OS X Lion and Mountain Lion

Important: Passwords for administrator accounts should not be blank.

  1. Log in with an administrator account. Tip: If you don't know the password of any administrator accounts, see "Resetting the original administrator account password" below.
  2. From the Apple menu choose System Preferences.
  3. From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
  4. Click the lock button if it appears locked; enter the administrator password.
  5. Select the name of the user whose password you want to change.
  6. Click the Reset Password button or the Change Password button.
  7. Enter a new password in both the New Password and Verify fields, and add a Password Hint if desired.
  8. Click the Reset Password button or the Change Password button.

Resetting the original administrator account password

In OS X Lion or later, you can reset your user password with your Apple ID.
