I have an old iMac G5 PPC 1.8GHz with 512 MB SDRAM that I want to set upo for my 10-yr old son (school projects etc).
It has OS X 10.3.9 on it, but I want to upgrade to tiger or leopard because it's so slow and has trouble with the Web--Safari 1.3.2 is gimpy.
Two questions...
1. What is recommended...tiger or leopard?
2. Where do I download or purchase these old systems (I've tried Apple's Web site in vain)?

You will need to buy a Retail Tiger or Leopard Upgrade DVD from E-Bay or somewhere like that.

Make sure that you buy a Retail Upgrade DVD, system spicific install disc sets will not work for upgrading your system.

it's so slow and has trouble with the Web
If it's web videos that struggle, that may not be readily fixable with and OS upgrade. Many current video codecs have PowerPC support ranging from poor to none.
