how to unmute my iphone even when my side switch is not on orange
iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1
check if volume is low.. or reboot
unmute
Explain what you mean by that. The ring/silent switch only "mutes" rings and alerts - not any other sounds. What are you unable to hear?
i have done all this if any one calls me i can talk with him but when i go to play a music i cant hear the music but if i put my headphones inside the volume comes back
i am not able to hear my songs but if i put my headphones i can hear the songs
You may be stuck in headset mode. Plug and unplug a headset several times to free up the stuck switch in the jack. Blow out any debris in the jack with canned compressed gas (NEVER BY MOUTH).
call someone and put on speaker mode.. if u cant hear then its ur speaker problem
I have sometimes had that problem to. First make sure the volume is up, if that isnt the problem, go into settings, sounds, and make sure things like keyboard clicks are on. And if there is STILL something wrond i'd go to an apple store genius bar.
when i put my headsets i can hear songs but when i remove i cannot and also i tried putting my headphones in and out a several times
Honestly at this point I'd call apple customer support
Get some canned gas and blow out the jack. You should also try resetting (no data loss): Press both home and power button for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, restore in iTunes, first using a backup, and if needed as a new phone, without using a backup,
If restoring as new doesn't help, take it to Apple or whoever provides iPhone warranty service in your country.

^^ THIS WORKS!! I DIDN'T BELIEVE IT AT FIRST BUT AS SOON AS I TRIED IT THE FIRST TIME IT WORKED AUTOMATICALLY!! I have had this same phone for 2 years. Im not joking. This is not a scam or any of that other junk people but on here. TRY IT! Have a good day 🙂
Hi, I found this works. Go to settings>general>accessibility>Assistive touch. Turn the assistive touch on. You will get a white dot on your screen. Touch the white dot. Touch device in the menu brought up. Touch the unmute to make it say mute. (Unmute means you are muted) hope this helps plenty of people. I just spent a month without any text tones alert sounds or ringers though they would all play on demo and speakers worked just fine. :)
I Was helping my brother in law trying to figure out why his new IPhone 6 was muted. I tried this and it worked! Thank you. 🙂 Now if we just knew how he muted it in the first place.
