How to reset time machine to factory defaults settings?

Hello,

I have a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8 2x2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon with 7GB RAM, internal hard disk with system and data and anoter internal 1TB HD for Time Machine.

Start to fail after a upgrade, delaying eternaly the backup copies... To fix it I decide to stop it in Control Panel and throw the /System/Library/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist and restart again but it never start...

The control panel window of Time Machine show Next Backup: Automatic backups off and the Main Swicht stills in OFF position

I try to remove the disk in Select the disk and selecting again, Time machine reconigzes the HD but it never start to work, If i select backup now in the icon in menu bar it moves to Waiting to back up and then stops and nothing happend..

Finally I delete the backup folder and start again with a fresh backup but I didn´t work

Now I cant do Time machine. I dont want to reformat and Install a new system because Its a server with a lot of work and Apps. installed..

If there a way to RESET the time machine to factory defaults settings?

help will be appreciated,

Tanks,

felix
