placing photo into a resume template

Hi, been at this for a couple of hours, learning plenty about everything other than what I really want to do:

How do I place a photo into a Pages template? I am using one of the resume templates, have my completed resume and it looks great. Only the photo challenge is stuffing me up.

Cheers, S.

Hello ShakuZen,

there are three ways to place an image or other media into a Pages document.

1) If it is one of Pages own templates and you want to exchange an image, just drag and drop your image from the Finder window over the image in the template, because all images in Pages own templates are placeholders and they are defined for this task.

2) You can drag and drop images out of some apps like Safari, iPhoto and of course from Finder windows and others into a Pages document.

3) You can use the menu item "Insert/Choose..." to import images or PDFs etc.

But there is one thing you have to know: if the text cursor is visible somewhere on the page and you are using the "Choose..." function, the image is automatically placed at the cursor position and it is an inline object. So make sure the text cursor is not visible (by clicking outside of all text areas near the page border), if you want a fix positioned image. Of course you can change the positioning mode every time with the wrap inspector.

Thanks, that did the trick and thanks to you I learned a couple of more things in the process. That is one funky signature you have there, spill the beans how can I too have such a cool end note?

Cheers, S.

Hello ShakuZen,

nice that it works for you. Thank you, I have made my signature by hand with a pen tablet and a scanned caricature of myself. It's a bit small and some years old. Today I have shorter hair and maybe there is a shade of gray in it 🙂

Yes, Peggy inspired me for that. She has wonderful ideas and she knows AppleWorks an Pages ins and outs, so sometimes I think of her like our discussions mother 😉 But psssst, don't tell her, maybe she don't want to hear that. But as you can see, she is experienced in points and fresh in work, so there is enough truth in that and I think of her with most respect.
