Do i have to keep connected to a router constantly or after setup?

What are exactly are you using the Time Capsule for and how do you have it wired?

TimeCapsule, not sure.

But you only need to be hardwired to a router for changing configuration.

I sometimes hard-wire for "heavy use" operations like very long downloads to avoid the chance of wireless-signal disconnects.
