A required iTunes component is not installed. (-42404)

Received the error message "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes (-42404). I tried both repair and reinstall, didn't work. I then tried one answer from the forum to delete the SC folder from iTunes and then restart. That didn't work did anyone have any luck with getting this error message? How important is this component? and what is this component?

Thanks

Windows 7, 64bit

On some occasions this can be caused by a damaged Fairplay. If that's what is afoot, a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and all related software componentry (as per the instructions in the following document) is worth a try:

Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

(The Fairplay componentry is in the common files rather than in the iTunes program files, hence the need for a complete scrape.)
