AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer).

Aug 12, 2012 8:21 PM in response to asnydsop1by asnydsop1,Hi,
Thanks for responses but what solved the problem for the 2nd generation Apple TV was actually the updating needed. Apparently, there was more than one update that was needed and I only updated once. I can mirror with iPad2 and my MacBook Pro now! I'll have to upgrade the iMac to Mountain Lion, though, if I want AirPlay Mirroring for that Mac. It took a call to Apple (my one and only freebie; more help with the Apple TV means $29!) and the problem was resolved.
