Apple will not fix it for free. Breaking the screen is not covered by warranty. You'll be better off bringing it back to Best Buy. It hasn't helped that you lost the receipt, but they may be able to look up the purchase from the iPad serial number. If you bought the extented warranty from Best Buy, they may fix it for free. Otherwise, they will fix it, but not for free.

If you call Apple by phone I can almost guarantee they will tell you they will not fix it for free. The Apple Retail Stores have more discretion and can make exceptions. But I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Did you buy the extended warranty from Best Buy.

It will definitely spread until there is a crack through the entire universe and earth itself splits in half... Actually I would go to apple stores and try to have it fixed for free...probably not worth 249 to fix it when you can eventually buy a new pad device...next year prices will drop dramatically as many pads and systems hit the market.

"This guy" is pulling your leg, that is false.

Apple will replace your iPad for $249, or, as Joe said, Best Buy would probably be your Best Bet.
