Q: slideshows not opening since mountain lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, when I try to open a slideshow, I just get the pinwheel and the program freezes.  I have to force quit to get out of it.  I tried creating a brand new slide show and the same thing happens when I try to open it.  Any fixes out there?  Pretty frustrating.

Have you tried stepping through the Trouble Shooting basics, worth doing these as a first port of call for something like this.

Thanks Tony.  I tried the first two steps and it did not appear to make a difference.  I thnk read that someone had this problem and tried opening a slide show in iPhoto first.  After opening another slide show in iPhoto (it did work), I tried to open my Apeture slide show, and it still did not appear to work.  After a VERY LONG TIME (estimate 10-15 min) the slide show did open!  I don't know if I was not patient enough the prior times, but it never took me that long to load a slide show, so something must have slowed things down.  I'm so glad to finally be able to get back to the show.

Have you changed your Preview settings? Rendering previews can take a very long time. After the upgrade your Previews may not have been current and needed upgrading. And if have not enabled the sharing of previews, they will have to be rendered before you start viewing a slideshow.

Also, if your slideshow contains incompatible video, Aperture may be stalling for some time, before it gives up on the video.
