Driver for printer, using Mountain Lion

Hi there.

I have a problem printing, after updating to Mountain Lion.

The printer is a Canon CLC 3200, and I cant find a driver to this one.

I dont think it is developed yet, so anybody out there with a Rescue 911 to this problem?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion

The CLC3200 sold in Europe is known as an iRC3200 in other regions. Canon Europe uses the CLC prefix to indicate the copier uses the imagePASS C1 print controller instead on the internal Canon board. The imagePASS supports the Postscript print language, so even though Canon will not release a supporting 10.8 driver, you can use the Generic Postscript driver included with 10.8.

The other thing to note is the connection method. If you use the LPD protocol then you must use a queue name of print and it must be entered in loer case. The C1 also supports RAW Port 9100 protocol which is called HP Jetdirect on the Mac.

  1. Open Print & Scan and select to add
  2. Select the IP icon and select LPD for the protocol
  3. Enter the IP address of the CLC3200
  4. For the queue name, enter print
  5. Change the name from the IP address to CLC3200
  6. Leave the Location blank
  7. In the Use menu, select Generic Postscript
  8. Click Add to complete.
  9. If you get a window offering Duplex you can select this also

That's it. See if you can print now.

Owner Information is part of the imagePASS-C1 driver. Without a supporting 10.8 driver then you won't have this menu, especially using the Generic Postscript driver.

One thing you could try is to use a 10.8 driver for a later model of imagePASS, such as the H1 that is for the iR C5180 series (called CLC5100 in Europe). This should still print and should let you set the user information in the driver. Check the Canon Europe web site for the 10.8 driver.

Update: 3 hours later

Unplug the USP cord to your computer from the printer

Go to System Prefs

Open "Print & Scan" icon

In the left column, you will see listed your printer, but the driver doesn't work with Mountain Lion

Right click on the printer's name, hit the delete or minus button. Delete all the printers listed if you have to.

Install the new printer driver software

Plug the USB cord back in. Now you should see the old printer listed again in the left column - except now it will have a new driver compatible with ML

Choose a page to print, open Page SetUP, choose your printer

Go to "Print" and print your page.

Mine worked for me!!! Hope yours will too.
