Bad CPU Type in Executable

I have Mountain Lion. I'm trying to install the latest stable version Ruby from get.rvm.io, and I keep getting this error. How do I fix this?

I am receiving a similar error when I run a small, custom application that I need for my work. It has worked for many years, but when I had to make the jump from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion it stopped working. I am receiving this error:

"/Users/xxxxxx/bin/scale: Bad CPU type in executable"

Does anyone think the app needs to be recompiled under Xcode for OX X 10.8? Or is this a possible Mountain Lion bug?

Thanks.

Lance
