My trash wont empty and the progress bar will not stop.

I was clearing off som old SD cards and moved all of the files to the trash. When I tried to empty the trash it wouldnt delete any of the files. I tried to cancel the action and the box read out "stopping" for the longest time. Now there are 4 progress bars on my desktop that will not go away and I cannot shut down my computer or restart it. It will not let me cancel the trash action and I cannot remove the progress bars.

I didnt know if there was an old CTRL ALT Delete trick to get rid of it. Its been up for 2 days now...So i dont think its going anywhere any time soon.

Please Help!

Select  Force Quit... from the menu bar, then select Finder and press return. From the Finder menu bar, select Finder Preferences Advanced and uncheck the box labeled Empty Trash securely. Try again to empty the Trash. If you still have problems, follow the instructions in this support article:

You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash
