Upgrade from 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion

I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 and want to upgrade to Mountain Lion but cannot because I only have Intel Core duo, not Intel core 2 duo - What to do?

You can use it or buy a Mac with 10.8

Thanks, but cannot afford to go out and buy a new Mac - just want to upgrade in order to synch laptop and main computer.
