updating contacts

How do I update iCloud contacts from iMac/iPhone/iPad?

Tried turning on iCloud on iPhone but after many hours transferring latest contacts to iCloud, my iCloud address book has not been updated from setup.

Also no way to transfer Address Book contacts from iMac that I can find!

iMac, iPhone and iPad are currently all synced from iTunes, but no luck with iCloud.

Please advise.

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).

Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.

If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

Thanks for this, but how do I achieve this without unsetting the syncing of my iMac, iPad and iPhone which are working perfectly?

I have already tried to backup all data on my iPhone to iStore and this didn't help at all. If I do the same with the iPad how can this help?

When I select backup to iCoud from with iTunes this does not update contacts either. BTW my calandar and email etc are fine. The problem is only with contacts!

As I said I have connected my iPhone to iCloud but this did not update my Contacts, although other parts of iCoud appear to have been updated.

I think my iMac may not update because from the Apple website I am not using the latest system. I am using 10.6.8 and iCloud does not feature in Control Panels.

But nevertheless I cannot understand why when I connect my iPhone to iCloud my contacts are not updated

There are contacts from when MobileMe first transferred my account. iTunes is registered with Apple under my normal email address and when I sync my iPhone and iPad with iCloud the contacts do not update. Calendar does somehow.

Can you please give me step by step guidance of how to sort this out. Thank you very much.

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.

If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.

You need to check whether your contacts are all in the same account or not, before I can suggest anything else. All your contacts need to be in the iCloud account if they are going to sync. Start by checking this on your Mac.

My iMac address book is On My Mac. I only have options for MobileMe on my iMac which no does not work. On my iPhone and iPad I do have options for iCloud. I have tried selecting these, sending my data to iCloud sucessfully but the Contacts on iCloud does not update.

The problem is that I have no options I have not tried. What can I do now?
