why never used iPad has 85% battery life left?

Hello everyone,

I've turned on my new iPad for the first time, just after taking it out of the new sealed box. And the first thing that took my attention was that the battery life was 85% left (a little "thing" in the top right corner).

(Prior to that, as the new device, I thought I would need to charge it before I even use it, but I learnt from user guide that I don' t need to do that.)

Anyway, so my worry is- why was there not a 100% battery life left on the never used iPad?

Because you never fully charge a Li-Poly battery to 100 % if you are storing it for a long period of time. Such is the case for all new iDevices prior to purchase.

Plug in the charger and connect it to your iPad to fully charge the battery.

Depending on when the iPad was manufactured and how long the iPad was on the shelf, a lithium battery will lose charge gradually over time without being used. When manufactured, the battery may not be fully charged either.
