Q: Migration freezes. What do I do?

I just bought a new MacBook Air and am trying to migrate my 2009 iMac info over to it. I used the Migration Assistant. At first it froze because both computers went to sleep. So I cancelled the migration, turned off Sleep and started over. However, migration still seems stalled. Any suggestions?

How are you connecting the two computers?

If you are migrating using Wifi, it can take days...

The fastest way to transfer your data is to clone your iMac to an external USB drive and then, attach the cloned drive to your new MacBook Air.

Use Setup Assistant rather than Migration Assistant. Setup Assistant is more reliable.
